Athleticism runs in the family for Jasper High School junior Millie Oliver.
As a standout middle hitter in volleyball and a talented singles and doubles tennis player, Millie is carving her own path in Jasper athletics while carrying on the legacy of her sister, tennis player Lila Oliver, and her mother, swim coach Katie Oliver.
Millie started playing volleyball for a club team in sixth grade before joining Jasper’s program. Her tennis career started in seventh grade, and by eighth grade, she was already competing on the varsity team.
Originally a back-row player in volleyball, Millie embraced a new challenge this year by stepping into the middle hitter role. She credits the team’s success to Coach Kellye Bowen’s leadership.
“I mean, the whole program—you can tell there is a big change in it. We all became really close, and we just pushed each other in and out of the gym every day. It’s really intense but worth it,” Millie says.
Looking to the future, Millie’s aspirations reflect her faith and love for family. After graduating high school in 2026, she hopes to live by the water, raise a family, and worship her King, Jesus Christ.
With another year left to compete for Jasper, Millie is sure to continue making her family, school, and community proud, both on and off the court. WL
