For Jasper High School senior Jarret Morrison, baseball is a passion and a defining part of his life.
Jarret began playing baseball when he was just three years old, and his love for the game has only grown over the years. Now, as a shortstop and pitcher for the Jasper Vikings, Jarret thrives on the field. Of the two positions, he especially enjoys playing shortstop.
“I love it not only because of all the action, but I also have to know what everyone is doing at all times,” Jarret explains.
Beyond his contributions to Jasper’s team, Jarret is proud to have earned a spot on the Perfect Game 2024 All-State team, a significant accomplishment that highlights his skill and dedication.
After graduating from Jasper in May, Jarret hopes to play baseball at the collegiate level. With both his athletic ability and academic success, he is well-positioned to achieve his goals.
In college, Jarret plans to pursue a degree in physical therapy, a field he became interested in after a personal experience with injury recovery.
“This past year, I got hurt; just before halfway through the year, I tore a ligament diving into third base. So on that road to recovery, going to Therapy South, I liked what they did, and it sparked an interest while I was there,” Jarret shares.
Jarret’s love of baseball shines through in all aspects of his life, from his time on the field to his future career aspirations. While his high school career is drawing to a close, his journey is just beginning, with many bases still to run in the game of life. WL
