Avid hunter Chase Turner recently achieved a remarkable feat while hunting on family land in the Missouri wilderness. Accompanied by his father, this dynamic duo crafted an unforgettable chapter in their hunting legacy when Chase brought down a colossal 250-pound buck, scoring an impressive 142 inches with its main frame 8-point rack.
The Turners’ journey began with meticulous planning – a scouting mission in the summer to set up cameras and hunting stands, enabling them to study the deer’s intricate travel patterns. After an uneventful September trip and armed with newfound knowledge of the deer, the Turners returned in November for a week-long pursuit.

On the second morning, Chase spotted the 250-pounder that would become the centerpiece of their hunting tale. “I didn’t think it was going to be a good year due to the weather, but when I saw that deer, it was pretty overwhelming,” he says.

For Chase, hunting isn’t just a sport; it’s a tradition passed down from his father. “I’ve been hunting with my dad since I was about ten years old. This year was the first time in 11 years that I shot a buck while he and I were sitting together, so that was special,” says Chase.

With the meat donated to a charity organization in Missouri and the trophy deer now at the taxidermist, this kill symbolizes not only a successful hunt, but a celebration of family, tradition, and the triumphs found in the heart of the wild. WL
