On Tuesday, February 11, the Walker Area Community Foundation hosted a meet-and-greet with Dana Hall McCain, state director for Sen. Katie Britt (R-Ala.).

McCain, who is based in Dothan, Ala., says she has been traveling across north and west Alabama this quarter to connect with residents and “know every district of the state as well as the one that I lay my head in.” She has been intentional about meeting Alabamians in various cities, most recently Tuscaloosa and Jasper, with Cullman among her next stops.

At the meet-and-greet, McCain told Kelli Wolfe, West Alabama field representative, that she wanted to visit to “see the exciting things that are going on in Walker County, so that I can be just that much more aware and smart about the needs and the opportunities when I sit down with our team in D.C., and we talk about projects that the senator might want to focus on and bring federal support to.”

Walker County leaders had the opportunity to connect with McCain and other community members and discuss what makes the county exciting and ways to improve it. Local officials in attendance included Dr. Dennis Willingham, Superintendent of the Walker County Board of Education; Paul Kennedy, President of the Walker Area Community Foundation; David Knight, Executive Director of the Walker County Economic and Industrial Development Authority; and many others committed to the county’s growth and success.

This brief but impactful event, McCain said, will “help me to work for [Walker County] down the road and have Senator Britt work for you down the road, which she is wildly committed to doing.” WL
