Livingston has served on the following committees during his time in the Senate: Agriculture, Conservation & Forestry, Finance and Taxation General Fund, Fiscal Responsibility & Economic Development, Transportation & Energy, Veterans & Military Affairs, and Local Legislation Madison County.

He is also a member of First United Methodist Church of Scottsboro and has served as Past President of the Scottsboro Rotary Club and Scottsboro-Jackson County Chamber of Commerce. He is also a Class 10 Member of Leadership Alabama and was a Co-Founder of Leadership Jackson County.

State Senator Greg Reed (R-Jasper), President Pro Tempore of the Alabama Senate, released the following statement regarding the election of Livingston:

“I am pleased with the election of Senator Livingston as Majority Leader of the Alabama Senate. Senator Livingston has an impeccable legislative record, and I am confident he will continue to make a positive impact on all Alabamians in his new role as Majority Leader. Senator Livingston and I have a wonderful working relationship and friendship, and I look forward to working with him in this new role to build upon the work that the Republican Caucus has been doing to preserve and strengthen Alabama’s way of life and beliefs.

“The process of electing Senator Livingston was efficient and effective. The Republican Caucus emerged with a united decision, and we look forward to continuing to lead Alabama toward guaranteeing the state is a better place to live, work, and raise a family. I am excited about the transformative work we are doing and the goals we will achieve throughout our third quadrennium of leadership.”

Livingston replaces Clay Schofield (R-Guntersville), who has served as Senate Majority Leader since November 2020.

“I also want to thank Senator Scofield for his unwavering dedication to the state of Alabama during his term as Majority Leader and tenure in the Alabama Senate. After entering the Senate together nearly 14 years ago, Senator Scofield has proven himself to be an enduring friend, an exceptional leader, and a true champion for the people of Alabama. We wish Senator Scofield well in his future endeavors,” Reed said. WL
