During the Chamber of Commerce of Walker County’s annual breakfast meeting on Tuesday, October 10, Chamber President Linda Lewis was recognized for her significant contributions to the community.
Alabama House District 13 Representative Matt Woods and Alabama Senate Pro Tempore Greg Reed joined forces to present Linda with resolutions from the state House and Senate, commending her for her unwavering commitment to the Chamber of Commerce and Walker County as a whole.
Woods, who has known Lewis for many years, spoke passionately about her impact on the community. “If you’re involved in this chamber in any way, you have stories and experiences that demonstrate Linda’s leadership and how she has dedicated much of her life to making Walker County a better place for all of us to live,” he stated.
Reed also praised Linda’s dedicated service: “You do so much for our community, and we’re so grateful.”
The resolutions presented to Lewis detailed her extensive and distinguished career. Serving as the Chamber’s president since 1996, Linda has played a pivotal role in the growth and development of Walker County. Her remarkable career has been recognized with prestigious awards, including the Chamber Executive of the Year 2015 and the Distinguished Accreditation Chamber Executive.
Under Linda’s visionary leadership, the Chamber of Commerce of Walker County initiated several critical programs, including leadership development, community engagement, and technical initiatives. Her dedication to fostering partnerships with bass fishing organizations boosted tourism revenue in Walker County and promoted business recruitment. National brands in lodging, dining, and retail were attracted to the area, creating hundreds of new jobs.
Furthermore, Linda Lewis is a highly respected leader who has devoted her time and talents to propel Walker County forward in every possible way. The entire Alabama Legislature acknowledged Linda Lewis’s contributions to the community. The resolutions, presented by Representative Woods and Senator Reed, expressed their sincere appreciation and best wishes for her continued health, happiness, and prosperity.
The recognition extended to the highest level of the Alabama government as Nathaniel Ledbetter, Speaker of the Alabama House of Representatives, presented Linda with an Alabama state flag that had been flown over the State Capitol in her honor. Ledbetter shared a message from Governor Kay Ivey acknowledging Linda’s instrumental role in making Walker County a better place to live. WL
