Maria Ross Campsey Named 2023 Chamber Volunteer of the Year

During the Chamber of Commerce of Walker County’s annual breakfast meeting on Tuesday, October 10, Maria Ross Campsey was awarded the 2023 Chamber Volunteer of the year award.

Ross Campsey, a dynamic entrepreneur, owns and manages two beloved local businesses: Athletic Arts Center and Dazzle Dance Boutique. Her commitment to her community is evident in her outstanding record of volunteerism and her passion for making a difference in Walker County.

During the award presentation, Chamber President Linda Lewis lauded Ross Campsey’s exceptional contributions, saying, “In addition to owning two local businesses, Maria has choreographed for the stage for the past twenty years, including productions of The Nutcracker, Always Patsy Cline, and the Miss Walker County and Walker County Distinguished Young Woman pageants.”

“Maria is a graduate of Leadership Walker County and serves as a team leader for Youth Leadership Walker County. She serves as an active member of the Chamber Board and sits on our executive committee. She also doesn’t miss a beat when volunteering for the 4 a.m. shift at bass tournaments. She is a parishioner of St. Cecilia Catholic Church, serves on the pastoral council, and is the religious education director. She is an active member of the Jasper City Schools Parent Organization, and the list goes on and on.”

In her acceptance speech, Ross Campsey expressed her profound love for the community and the opportunities she has had to make a difference. “I love everything I do here,” she stated, “and I am grateful to have the opportunity to be part of so many things. I think we live in a wonderful place, and I am just very happy to be a part of it.” WL
