Senator Matt Woods Secures $135,000 in Funding to Support Beacon House’s Operations and Facilities

JASPER, Ala. — Senator Matt Woods announced the appropriation of $135,000 for Concerned Citizens for Our Youth, Inc., commonly known as the Beacon House. These additional funds will assist with the organization’s ongoing facilities needs and operational expenses.

“Beacon House provides a safe, nurturing environment for teenage girls who need stability, encouragement, and hope,” said Senator Matt Woods. “Their mission changes lives every day, and I am fully committed to helping them in any way I can. This appropriation will assist with ongoing facilities needs and operations so Beacon House can continue serving young women with excellence for years to come.”

Beacon House serves as a nonprofit residential home for teenage girls within the Alabama Department of Human Resources foster care system, providing a safe, stable, and nurturing environment where young women can grow, heal, and prepare for successful futures.

Concerned Citizens for Our Youth, Inc. Executive Director Donna Kilgore expressed appreciation, “We are so grateful for the appropriation for Beacon House. The commitment of our community and representatives makes a powerful difference in the mission and day-to-day activities of the program.”

The funding will help ensure Beacon House can continue maintaining its facilities and delivering the high-quality care and support services that have made it an invaluable resource for vulnerable youth in Alabama.

Kilgore continued, “The board recently approved an updated mission, along with our request to the state to transition from a moderate care facility for teen girls to basic and transitional living services for teen girls, ages 12-19, in the foster care system.”

“Beacon House has been a tremendous blessing to countless young women by providing compassionate care, guidance, and a place to call home,” said Representative Greg Barnes. “Their commitment to investing in the lives of these girls is inspiring, and I am grateful for the opportunity to support an organization that is making such a meaningful difference in our community and across Alabama.”

Alexander concluded, “The mission of the Beacon House Program is to promote stability, knowledge, and healing by empowering teenage girls to build resilience and discover their fullest potential.”

Concerned Citizens for Our Youth, Inc., remains dedicated to providing a secure and supportive residential setting for teenage girls in foster care, helping them build confidence, develop life skills, and pursue brighter futures.
