Bevill State Community College (BSCC) is proud to announce that Dylan Schloerb, a sophomore in the engineering transfer track, has been named a semi-finalist for the 2025 Jack Kent Cooke Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship. This highly competitive scholarship recognizes the nation’s top community college students who plan to transfer to a four-year institution to complete their bachelor’s degree.
Originally from Fayette County, Schloerb began his journey with Bevill State as a dual enrollment student, taking college courses while still in high school. Now, with a 4.0 GPA, he is a Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) honor student and an active member of the Student Government Association, demonstrating both academic excellence and leadership on campus.
Schloerb has been accepted to The University of Alabama, where he plans to major in mechanical engineering. Throughout his time at BSCC, he has earned multiple scholarships and academic honors, positioning himself as a strong candidate for the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation’s prestigious award.
The Jack Kent Cooke Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship is one of the largest and most competitive scholarships for community college transfer students in the country. It provides up to $55,000 per year for up to three years to help outstanding students cover the cost of completing their bachelor’s degrees.
“Dylan embodies the spirit of hard work, perseverance, and academic excellence that we encourage at Bevill State Community College,” said Dr. Joel Hagood, President of Bevill State. “His recognition as a Jack Kent Cooke semi-finalist is a tremendous honor, and we are incredibly proud of him. We look forward to seeing the great things he will accomplish in the future.”
The final selection of scholarship recipients will be announced by the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation later this spring.
