Meet Mary Ellis Owens, a junior at Sumiton Christian High School junior whose talents extend beyond the sports arena. Mary Ellis has been making an impact as a base in cheerleading for her coach (and mother!) Dixie Owens. She also is the daughter of David Owens.
Mary Ellis has also proven herself to be a remarkable student. When she’s not busy with sports commitments, you might find her cracking open an English book to learn more about her favorite subject.
Mary Ellis also has a beyond-perfect GPA of 4.17 and is a proud member of the National Honor Society, Beta Club, Key Club, and the Student Government Association.
“Membership in these organizations is an opportunity to share my ideas and the ability to push for the clubs. It lets me be inspired!” she says.
As she awaits her graduation in May 2025, Mary Ellis plans to attend college to become a speech pathologist.
