Recently the Walker County Board of Education recognized several groups throughout the county for outstanding achievements, including Curry High School Varsity Cheerleading and Beta Club, Dora High School Beta Club, Sumiton Middle School Beta Club, and Cordova Elementary School. Students were also recognized in a wide variety of categories at the Beta Club State Convention. In addition, several local schools received recognition for Marzano High Reliability Schools, Level 1 Certification.

“One of the greatest things we can do as a board is take time to recognize these students and educators, and let them know how much we appreciate what they’re doing, not only for the school system, but for Walker County as a whole,” said Superintendent Dr. Dennis Willingham.
