Eagle Forum, a conservative, pro-family policy organization that promotes Christian values as it relates to faith and family, recently announced K. Carl Smith and Debbie Bernal as the speakers for the organization’s upcoming meetings in Jasper. Smith will speak at the April meeting of the organization and Bernal will speak in May.
Smith is a black Christian conservative who will be sharing information about a classical Christian school he is founding in the city of Birmingham and how the curriculum has expanded to include a more thorough history while supporting conservative values. Smith will speak on Tuesday, April 18 at 6 p.m.
Bernal is a Pfizer whistleblower who claims the pharmaceutical company is hiding illegal gain-of-function lab projects from the public. She will speak on Tuesday, May 16 at 6 p.m.
According to Iva Hendon, one of the leaders of Jasper’s Eagle Forum Action Group, the organization reaches fellow conservatives through grassroots efforts. “At our meetings, we give updates on legislation and educational issues, as well as host speakers on current topics,” said Hendon. “We also lobby for legislation and write bills. Our executive director welcomes volunteers who want to learn to lobby to go with her to the Capitol as she lobbies during session.”
Around 20 similar action groups meet across the state each month. The Jasper Eagle Forum Action Group meets on the third Tuesday of every month in the fellowship hall of First Presbyterian Church in Jasper, located at 1510 4th Avenue South. WL
