When asked about her inspiration to write The Crown Effect: Abundant Life in a Chaotic World, Kathy Vinston had one answer: “God.”
For years, Kathy felt led to tell her story but lacked the free time to do so. After over 30 years, she retired from her position as principal of Cordova High School to spend time with her first grandchild and finally found time to sit down and write it all out.
“One thing led to another, and the next thing I knew, I was retiring. God had a plan, and He put it in motion. I began to write the book, and I could tell you one miraculous story after another about that process,” says Kathy. “I have had a calling on my life to encourage and inspire other women, and the Lord allowed me to do just that.”
Kathy sent her book to 13 publishers and received two offers, becoming part of the 2% of first-time authors to secure a publishing deal. Ready to promote her book, Kathy reached out to Crystal Odom of Paper Places Bookshop in downtown Jasper. Together, they planned a book signing and local business pop-up where visitors can support local businesses and grab a signed copy of The Crown Effect.
This Saturday, April 13, 2024, join Kathy at Paper Places Bookshop from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., shop clothing from Grit and Grace Boutique, and enjoy themed treats from 3 Boys Cakery!
Kathy says she looks forward to seeing old friends, meeting new ones, and seeing how her story can encourage other women.
“I poured my heart into this book and exposed my vulnerabilities. I know so many women, young and old, go through the same things that I have,” she says. “I just want them to know that they don’t have to live in that situation; God will see them through. And he won’t give you a perfect life, but he will give you a great life.”
