Meet Dora High School senior Maritza Avilez, who demonstrates her athletic skills as a utility player in softball for coach Braxton Whitlow.
“Out of all the positions I play, I love shortstop and second because there is more action there,” Maritza says.
Maritza’s involvement in extracurricular activities is equally impressive. She is a member of the Beta Club, Peer Helpers, and the Student Government Association. She also participated in Girls State in 2023.
Maritza maintains a strong 3.7 GPA and plans to attend college and study real estate.
Maritza is the daughter of Erika Diaz.
