Nurse Practitioner Leah Gann recently joined The Willow Project to provide pediatric healthcare through her practice, ABC Pediatrics West. The Willow Project is a local organization that offers healthcare, arts, and family services to youth in the community. The organization is one of which Leah has personally seen the impact, and she is honored to join the ranks of professionals working to make The Willow Project’s mission a reality.
“I believe in the mission of helping children creatively and helping them from a holistic standpoint. And that’s the mission of the Willow project,” says Leah. “I can’t say enough positive things about the other services we provide. So just to be considered in that same class of professionals is an honor.”
Leah was drawn to the medical field because of childhood health issues, and she has built an extensive background within the medical community. Following high school, Leah attended nursing school at Bevill State Community College. In the process, God called her to become a nurse practitioner, and she earned her degree at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama.
After 12 years of active nurse practitioner work and teaching nursing school, Leah decided to bring her medical knowledge home to Jasper.
“There’s a need locally for more pediatric care. I told my husband, Ryan, that my patients need somebody closer to home. I told God He would have to write it on the wall,” says Leah. “That same week, The Willow Project contacted me about taking a space in their building. And then somebody contacted me again about some medical equipment that was incredibly affordable. And I knew this was the writing on the wall.”
Through her partnership with The Willow Project, Leah offers pediatric care to patients from birth to age 19, alongside other healthcare professionals providing counseling, occupational therapy, and speech therapy. She aims to make obtaining pediatric care easy and encourages anyone seeking this care to call for an appointment, regardless of insurance or money.
