This past Wednesday, the Walker County Basketball Tournament took place at the Devil’s Den in Cordova after last week’s cancellations due to weather conditions. The Oakman Wildcats faced the Carbon Hill Bulldogs on the boys’ side, while the Cordova Blue Devils faced the Dora Bulldogs on the women’s side.

The crowd was deafening as the games continued with chants battling across the court like flaming arrows.

Carbon Hill defeated Oakman 58-44 to become back-to-back champions under coach Garrett Kirkland, and Cordova defeated Dora 41-37. This is coach Jonathan Gilbert’s first year as head coach of the Blue Devils.

The Bulldogs’ team leaders were Jace Prince, who had 11 points, and Jesse Walker, who had 9 points.

The Blue Devils’ team leaders were Shyla Armistad, with 11 points, and Shelby Black with 9.

Congratulations to the Walker County Champions! WL
