On Thursday, January 25, The Pregnancy Test & Resource Center (PTRC) team hosted an Open House at the organization’s new facility, located at 600 20th Ave. E in Jasper.

Guests were invited to enjoy a self-guided tour of the new facility and refreshments provided by the PTRC’s volunteer partners.

The new facility, which opened in October 2023, better equips PTRC staff and volunteers to serve expectant parents in the community. The upgraded facility boasts several key features, including a spacious lobby, expanded reception area and clerical space, larger medical rooms equipped for examinations and ultrasounds, a large classroom for educational programs, dedicated counseling rooms, conference space, a community resource room, expanded donation closet, and a separate entrance for donations.

“We have so much space in this new location; it is twice the size or more of our former location,” said Jenny Odom, PTRC Executive Director.

Odom also told The Walker Leader in a previous conversation, “(Through the new facility) we hope to be more visible to the community, add additional programs and services to meet more needs, and expand what we are already doing so that we can better serve our current clients.”

Formerly known as Master’s Plan Ministries, PTRC has been supporting expectant parents for over 30 years. It’s a non-denominational, pro-life organization that offers free medical services and resources from pregnancy testing to postpartum care.

In addition to medical services, PTRC offers parenting programs, both in-person and online. These programs educate and guide expectant parents through the challenges of parenthood. PTRC operates without federal funding, relying on volunteers, a dedicated board of directors, and fundraising efforts.

PTRC Grant Partners include: The Walker Area Community Foundation, The CAWACO RC&D Council, The Daniel Foundation of Alabama, and The Baptist Health Foundation. WL
