Meet Idaysia Mercer, a Jasper High School senior whose talents extend beyond the sports arena. A two-sport athlete, Idaysia has been making an impact as a point guard in basketball for coach Blake Laney and a centerfielder in softball for coach Brandi Hall.
Idaysia has also proven herself to be a remarkable student. When she’s not busy with sports commitments, you might find her reading up on her favorite subject, biology.
As she looks ahead to her graduation in May 2024, Idaysia plans to pursue a career path that allows her to work with animals and plans to play basketball at the collegiate level.
“I’ve always just loved animals and had a passion for them,” Idaysia said.
Idaysia is the daughter of Shawn Mercer and Kimberly Thursby.
