Donna Kilgore, the Executive Director of the Jasper Area Family Services Center, was honored at Positive Maturity’s Top 50 Over 50 2023 event on July 27. The event recognizes Alabamians age 50+ who make a difference in their community and leave a lasting impact. Kilgore’s dedication to strengthening families and combating poverty through various programs in the Jasper area earned her this prestigious recognition.
Positive Maturity, Inc. created the Top 50 Over 50 initiative in 2014, and previous honorees include prominent figures such as Meteorologist James Spann, Governor Kay Ivey, and Chef Frank Stitt. Kilgore’s nomination for the award came from Positive Maturity’s Executive Director, Penny Kakoliris, with whom she had previously worked alongside as directors for Children’s Policy Councils within the state.

In response to receiving the award, Kilgore expressed her gratitude, stating, “I felt very honored to be alongside the other recipients of this year’s award. I have been fortunate in my career to cross paths with many people who have a passion for helping their communities. It takes people working together to impact communities, and so many people in our community work together to make it the best it can be. That willingness to collaborate, whether through volunteering or as a profession, is crucial. You need to have a passion for the causes you’re working to make a difference for, and maintaining that passion is very important to me.”
Congratulations, Donna, on this excellent milestone! WL
