Jasper’s own Joe Kelley was among 12 individuals honored as the Alabama Nursing Home Association (ANHA) inducted its inaugural class into the Legends of Long Term Care Hall of Fame.

Established in 2026 as part of ANHA’s 75th anniversary celebration, the Hall of Fame recognizes individuals whose leadership, service, and lasting contributions have helped shape the association and the long-term care profession in Alabama.

Collectively, the inaugural inductees represent decades of dedication to residents, caregivers, and providers, having strengthened long-term care across the state through advocacy, innovation, mentorship, and an unwavering commitment to those they serve.

Kelley established Ridgeview and Ridgewood Health Services in 1977, building a family-owned organization dedicated to skilled nursing and comprehensive health care that has served Alabama for nearly five decades. From the beginning, he championed the belief that every resident deserves exceptional care in a warm, home-like environment that promotes dignity, independence, and quality of life.

A licensed nursing home administrator since 1977, Kelley has devoted his career to serving others with integrity, compassion, and vision. An active member of ANHA Region IX, he has served on numerous committees, helping strengthen the association and advance the profession.

Though much of his work has taken place quietly behind the scenes, Kelley’s influence has been far-reaching. A dedicated advocate for long-term care providers and mentor to future leaders, he has also built a lasting family legacy, passing his commitment to service, leadership and compassion on to his daughters, Joette and Alicia, President and Vice President of Ridgeview and Ridgewood Health Services, respectively.

“When people mention this award to me, I say facetiously, ‘If you do anything meaningful for long enough, somebody is going to give you something,’” Kelley said with a laugh. “But seriously, I am humbled and honored to have received this award. My greatest honor and pride is seeing my daughters continuing this work and being dedicated to serving the residents and their families in this area. Let there be no doubt, divine providence led us here to do what we do.” WL
