A unique live performance coming to Jasper High School’s Pam Brown Theatre this weekend, Saturday, February 21, 2026, will bring Scripture to life through movement, music, and storytelling.
Directed by Haley Hunt, From Genesis to the Cross is a Bible-based ballet production that follows the story of the Bible from creation through the resurrection. Structured similarly to traditional narrative ballets like The Nutcracker or Swan Lake, the performance presents key moments of Scripture through dance, beginning with God’s creation of the heavens and the earth, and continuing through the fall of man and ultimately to the hope of redemption.
Hunt, who has danced since the age of three, said the idea for the production came during a difficult season of her life.
“God laid this on my heart last year,” she says. “I had gone through a really difficult time following a pregnancy loss, and during that time, I was praying a lot. God gave me this idea to create a large Bible ballet.”
Hunt originally hoped for 20 participants. Instead, more than 60 dancers, from toddlers to adults, have come together from multiple studios across the region, including Marilyn Sanders Performing Arts Center, Athletic Arts Center, Westwood Ballet, and others. One dancer is even traveling seven hours from Georgia to be part of the production.

Hunt says one of the most meaningful pieces in the ballet, titled Lord of Hosts, represents the moment sin entered the world and reflects the reality that God remains present even in suffering.
“It shows that even when you push God away, He never leaves you,” she says.
The production is dedicated to Kalyn Sims, one of Hunt’s earliest students, who passed away last year at age 11.
“My goal is to share the love of Jesus and what He has done for us with as many people as possible,” Hunt says.

From Genesis to the Cross will be performed on February 21 at 6 p.m., with doors opening at 5 p.m., at Jasper High School’s Pam Brown Theatre. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. WL
