The Walker County Arts Alliance (WCAA) hosted an opening reception on Thursday for its annual Artists of WCAA exhibit, showcasing the talent and creativity of local artist members.

The Artists of WCAA exhibit is one of many ways the Walker County Arts Alliance connects creators with the community. The nonprofit organization serves as a resource for artists while offering residents opportunities to experience and participate in the arts close to home.

The exhibit includes artwork in various mediums, including sculpture, painting, pottery, photography, and more, from the following WCAA member artists: Jill Bivona, Robin Byrd, Lona Courington, Walt Farnham, Kate Gurganus, Charla Gwin, Chassidy Hester, Deb Hudson, Hannah & Barbara Ann Lewis, Penelope P. Mason, Lynn Mishkel, Kat Murray, Sarah O’Mary Roberts, Deana Peek, Nick Rizzo, Stephen W.B. Rizzo, Ginny Roberts, and Diane Williams.

WCAA Executive Director Kat Murray told The Walker Leader that the show reflects the wide range of artistic expression found across the county.

“We have so many talented artists in the show from watercolor, leather, and even printmaking. I’m excited for others to see the creativity of our Walker County community. This show is an example of how we can give local artists a platform to show their work.”

The exhibit will be on display through April 2 at the WCAA gallery, located on the Jasper campus of Bevill State Community College (1500 Indiana Avenue, Jasper, AL. 35501; formerly the Jesse Student Center). Gallery hours are Monday, Thursday & Friday 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., and Tuesday 9 a.m. – 11 a.m.
