Name: Matt Bradshaw

How long you’ve lived in Jasper: 32 years

Family: I have been married to Ashlyn Bradshaw for ten years, and we have two sons, Beckett (8), and Brooks (6).

Why are you running for City Council?

I believe this current election period is a very pivotal time for the City of Jasper. The current administration has taken Jasper to new heights and successfully helped make this city a place I, and so many others, are proud to call home. However, I feel it is time to pass the baton to a younger generation. I am willing to take a step of faith and represent District 1 to the best of my abilities.

What key issues will be your top priorities if elected?

My top priority will always be the betterment and the best interest of the City of Jasper, and the citizens of District 1.

What personal or professional experiences have best prepared you for this role?

As a licensed realtor, I understand exactly what people want to know when they’re considering a move to Jasper. The questions they ask reflect what matters most to them. When you can answer with confidence and reassure them that Jasper is a wonderful place to live and raise a family, it reinforces the value of what you do.

Before real estate, I spent several years as an engineer in the automotive industry. One mindset I often heard, but never fully agreed with, was, “If it’s not broken, don’t fix it.” Just because something isn’t broken doesn’t mean it can’t be made better. In fact, the industry often draws on the Japanese concept of Kaizen, which means continuous improvement. It’s a systematic approach that rejects complacency and encourages ongoing growth and progress.

What’s one thing you love about Jasper?

I love the people. The people are what makes Jasper what it is. I enjoy when I walk into any local establishment and see a familiar face, and can instantly strike up conversation.

Favorite local event, spot, or tradition: Foothills Festival has to be my all-time favorite local event. Aside from that, I enjoy taking my family to any Jasper High School athletic events.

Something others might be surprised to know about you: I design plans for custom homes.
