The Walker County Campaign for Christ will host a four-night, countywide event at the Jasper Mall this October 18-22. Each evening will kick off at 6 p.m. with dinner provided, followed by worship beginning at 6:30 p.m.
This free event, reminiscent of an old-fashioned tent revival, will feature nightly sermons from Matt Miller, an evangelist from Portland, Tennessee. Groups from Heritage Christian University, Faulkner University, Freed-Hardeman University, and Apologetics Press, among others, will also be in attendance with informational booths and giveaways.
When event organizer Brandon Glover was asked about his reason for planning the event, he explained, “When I was about four years old, I attended a tent revival in the Thach community. It really affected me even at that young age. In 2015, my wife and I started a Bible study in a plane hangar. COVID in 2020 unfortunately put an end to that. After some time had passed, we then started having an event once a year with about fifty people. It has since grown to about 300 people.”
Glover and Miller met at an Evangelism University event about three years ago in Hardin County, Tennessee. The three-day event led to a friendship, and the seed was planted for an event in Walker County.
Miller says, “What we hope to achieve with this is to bring people to Jesus. There are so many distractions these days, and we want to feed them, love on them, and make sure they know about God’s love for them.”
“When we first started planning this, I ordered four hundred signs and two tents and a certain number of chairs, and it has all grown. Now there are 1,000 signs and as many chairs and tents as we could afford,” laughs Glover. “We just ask you to pray for this, and we hope to make it an annual event.”
