Walker County residents are invited to take part in the Walker County Community Cleanup Day 2026 on Saturday, April 11, in partnership with Alabama People Against a Littered State (ALPALS).
The county-wide effort encourages volunteers to help clean up roadsides and public areas across Walker County as part of a shared commitment to keeping local communities clean and beautiful.
“Each year, Walker County sets aside a day for community cleanup, and this year it carries a little extra meaning as we celebrate America 250. We’re proud to mark that milestone by encouraging people to help clean up across the county,” said Walker County Commission Chairman Steve Miller.
Walker County Commissioners are encouraging residents from across the county to get involved and help make this year’s cleanup a success.
“We appreciate everyone who is willing to help with this effort and do their part to keep District 1 and all of Walker County clean,” said District 1 Commissioner John Dunagan. “It takes all of us working together to keep our roadsides and communities looking their best.”
Those who would like to participate can pick up designated garbage bags beginning Thursday, April 2, at the following Walker County district shops:
District 1 Shop
43 Langley Road
Jasper, AL 35503
District 2 Shop
1022 2nd Street NE
Carbon Hill, AL 35549
District 3 Shop
19 Taft Road
Parrish, AL 35580
District 4 Shop
55 4th Avenue W
Sipsey, AL 35584
Once volunteers have completed their cleanup, they may bring the designated trash bags to the Walker County Landfill (23470 Highway 118 W, Jasper, AL 35501) on Saturday, April 11. Participants should be prepared to tell landfill staff which roadside area they cleaned upon arrival.
The Commission noted that this is not a free disposal day for residential household garbage.
“Walker County has so many beautiful roadways, waterways, parks, and places to enjoy, and we want to keep them looking their best. We’ll have bags available in each district, and we’d truly appreciate everyone who is willing to help,” said Miller. WL
