Bevill State Community College is proud to announce that its Associate Degree Nursing and Practical Nursing programs have been granted continuing accreditation by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). This national recognition affirms Bevill State’s commitment to maintaining the highest standards of excellence in nursing education across its campuses.
The ACEN Board of Commissioners officially approved the continuing accreditation at its August 2025 meeting, with the next site evaluation visit scheduled for Spring 2033. Both programs were found to have no recommendations and were commended for the strength and qualifications of their clinical nursing faculty. According to the ACEN findings, Bevill State employs 73 clinical nursing faculty, 45 of whom hold or are pursuing graduate-level degrees in nursing, and 31 are proud alumni of the College’s nursing programs.
Dr. Joel Hagood, President of Bevill State Community College, stated, “The reaffirmation of our ACEN accreditation is a reflection of the exceptional work of our faculty, staff, and students. Nursing education is one of the cornerstones of Bevill State’s mission to serve our region, and this recognition reinforces the quality and integrity of the programs that prepare our graduates to provide excellent patient care. We take great pride in knowing that our nursing students and alumni continue to make a meaningful impact in healthcare throughout Alabama and beyond.”
Dr. Kimberly Eddy, DNP, RN, Nursing Program Coordinator at Bevill State, also expressed appreciation for the faculty and staff who guided the accreditation process. “This recognition reflects the strength of our curriculum, the passion of our educators, and the success of our graduates who serve in hospitals, clinics, and healthcare systems across Alabama.”
The ACEN accreditation process is a rigorous peer-review evaluation that measures nursing programs against national standards for curriculum quality, faculty qualifications, student outcomes, and institutional support. Achieving continuing accreditation confirms Bevill State’s compliance with the 2023 ACEN Standards and Criteria, ensuring that students receive a robust and industry-relevant education.
