State Representative Greg Barnes announced his re-election campaign for State House District 13 today. The 2026 Republican Primary will be held on May 19.
“I am honored that on election night nearly 70% of voters decided I was the best man to represent them in Montgomery,” said Representative Barnes. “Like President Trump, I am not a politician. I am a businessman and a problem-solver. I decided to run for office because we need more conservative outsiders in public office.”
In September, Barnes won a landslide in a special election to replace now-State Senator Matt Woods, receiving nearly 70% of the vote.
“The people of District 13 know that I am a business-minded conservative fighter who will defend their interests and unapologetically stand up for the biblical values that make our state and nation great,” said Barnes.
Barnes is a retired business owner, realtor, and licensed contractor. He founded and managed Greg Barnes Construction and Development, specializing in large-scale projects, specifically in the healthcare, commercial, and residential sectors, until his retirement.
Barnes emphasized the need to create a pro-growth environment, saying, “We need to cut taxes, reduce fees, and eliminate regulations that increase the cost of living. Our tax dollars are not the government’s money; it is our money, and we should be able to keep more of it. I want to put your tax dollars back in your pocket.”
