Capstone Health celebrated the grand opening of its new clinic in Nauvoo on July 18, 2025, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by local leaders, elected officials, and community members.

The new facility replaces the organization’s previous location inside a converted food bank.

Capstone CEO David Jones opened the event, welcoming guests and expressing gratitude for all who helped bring the new clinic to life.   “Today is a special day, not just for this rural part of Alabama, but for everyone who believes that access to healthcare is critical,” he said. “This new center is a testament to what’s possible when leaders, communities, and missions come together.”

Jones recounted Capstone’s decade-long presence in Nauvoo, thanking past and current local officials, like Nauvoo Mayor Terry Burgett, for their help in growing the clinic into a modern health center.

The clinic was made possible in part through federal funding, including a $725,000 earmark secured by U.S. Congressman Robert Aderholt. “This was a great investment,” Aderholt said during his remarks. “Capstone sees around 2,000 patients a year, with close to 8,000 total visits. This new space will allow for significant growth and expanded services.”

Aderholt emphasized the importance of ensuring that rural communities receive their fair share of public investment. “Everyone pays taxes, and I want to make sure our communities get their fair share back from Washington,” he said. “Too often, rural communities are forgotten, but they’re the heart and soul of America.”

Newly-elected Alabama Senator Matt Woods (R-Jasper) also spoke at the ceremony, highlighting the role clinics like Capstone play in closing the gap between healthcare needs and available services. “When you look at Alabama’s health rankings, we often show up near the bottom, not because we’re just that unhealthy, but because many people don’t have access to care,” he said. “This clinic helps change that.”

Woods expressed gratitude to all those involved, including the Capstone leadership team, donors such as the Daniel Foundation, Honda of Jasper, and the Walker Area Community Foundation, which contributed $10,000 to the project, as well as several anonymous supporters.

Following remarks, community leaders joined Capstone board members and the Nauvoo clinic’s team to officially cut the ribbon, and attendees were invited to tour the new facility and enjoy refreshments.
