Name: Lincoln Moody
How long you’ve lived in Jasper: 29 years
Family: I am married to Cristy, and we have two sons, Mack and Miller.
Why are you running for City Council?
After spending my career in education, I’ve seen firsthand how local decisions affect families, schools, and neighborhoods. I’m running for City Council because I want to continue serving this community—not from a classroom, but at the policy level. I believe in thoughtful leadership, and along with the mayor and other council members, I want to help create a city where everyone has access to opportunity, strong public services, and a voice in local government.
What key issues will be your top priorities if elected?
I believe in investing in recreational opportunities—not just for health and enjoyment, but as a way to build community, prevent crime, and support our young people in discovering their strengths. Expanding and improving parks, community centers, and after-school programs are investments I believe we should make to further our city’s future.
At the same time, I’m passionate about driving thoughtful economic development. That means supporting local businesses, attracting responsible investment, and creating jobs that offer real pathways to stability. I want to see a city where families can afford to live and work, where young people can imagine a future here, and where our downtown and neighborhoods are vibrant and thriving.

What personal or professional experiences have best prepared you for this role?
My career as an educator has been the most formative experience in preparing me for this role. Working with students, families, and colleagues from all walks of life have taught me how to listen with empathy, communicate clearly, and solve problems thoughtfully — skills that are essential in public service. I’ve had to make tough decisions, advocate for limited resources, and build consensus among diverse stakeholders, all while keeping the community’s best interests at heart.
What’s one thing you love about Jasper?
The one thing I love most about Jasper is the people. This town is filled with kind, hardworking, and generous individuals who care deeply about one another. Over the years, I’ve seen neighbors step up in times of need, celebrate each other’s successes, and come together to make our community stronger.
As someone whose faith in Jesus guides my life, I see His love reflected in the way this community serves, uplifts, and supports each other. My faith calls me to serve others, to lead with humility, and to seek justice and mercy—and I see those values lived out by so many in Jasper. That’s what makes me proud to call this place home.
Favorite local event, spot, or tradition: High school athletics is my favorite local tradition because it brings the whole community together in a way that’s truly special. There’s something powerful about seeing the stands filled with families, students, and alumni—everyone cheering on our young people and showing their pride in our schools. It’s more than just a game; it’s a celebration of teamwork, discipline, and the spirit of community.
As an educator, I saw firsthand how sports help shape character—teaching responsibility, resilience, and leadership. And as a community member, I’ve always loved how those Friday nights or tournament weekends become a shared experience that unites us. For me, those moments reflect the heart of our town: hardworking, close-knit, and full of encouragement for the next generation.
Something others might be surprised to know about you: Something people might not know about me is that I’m a bit of a gearhead—I love turning wrenches. Whether it’s working on an old car, tinkering with engines, or just spending time in the garage, it’s always been a passion of mine. There’s something really satisfying about taking things apart, figuring out how they work, and putting them back together better than before. It’s a hobby that’s taught me patience, problem-solving, and the value of hands-on work—all lessons that have stuck with me throughout my life.
