Bevill State and Samford University Sign Agreement to Expand Transfer Pathways and Scholarship Opportunities

Bevill State Community College (BSCC) and Samford University have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) that establishes a collaborative transfer partnership aimed at increasing access to bachelor’s degrees and expanding scholarship opportunities for Bevill State students.

This agreement outlines a clear and supportive transfer process for BSCC students pursuing continued studies at Samford. The MOU provides defined pathways into several academic programs at Samford, including Organizational Leadership, Liberal Studies, Public Health, Human Development and Family Science, and RN to BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing).

As part of the agreement, Samford University will also offer enhanced scholarship opportunities, including a $2,500 transfer scholarship specifically for eligible Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) members from Bevill State who enroll as full-time students.

“We are proud to expand opportunities for our students through this partnership with Samford University,” commented Dr. Joel Hagood, President of Bevill State Community College. “This agreement represents our shared commitment to creating accessible, high-quality educational pathways that allow students to build on their associate degrees and continue working toward meaningful, career-focused goals. By removing barriers to transfer, we are helping our students stay on track, graduate, and thrive.”

“Samford is thrilled to provide transfer pathways and new scholarship opportunities for Bevill State students,” said Samford President Beck A. Taylor. “Meeting the needs of new student populations through enhanced academic programs is a vital component of Samford’s strategic plan, Fidelitas. We believe this partnership incentivizes more students to thrive as members of Samford’s community.”

Both institutions are committed to supporting academic achievement and reducing barriers for students transitioning from two-year to four-year degree programs. This partnership underscores a shared vision for educational excellence and workforce readiness across the state.
