The Kiwanis Club of Jasper is kicking off 2025 with two major fundraisers to support programs for children, youth, and individuals with disabilities in Walker County.

The club will host its annual pancake breakfast at the Bevill State Community College cafeteria in Jasper on Saturday, February 22, from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Tickets are $5 per plate and include pancakes and sausage.

“Proceeds from the breakfast support Kiwanis programs like Track and Field Day, the Bringing Up Grades (BUG) Club, scholarships, and our school service leadership programs. In 2024, we also provided $10,000 in Kiwanis community grants. This fundraiser, like our others, helps support those initiatives,” said Kiwanis Club Secretary Jeremy Hagood.

The cafeteria is located inside Wade Hall on the Bevill State-Walker College Campus at 1411 Indiana Avenue in Jasper. Those who purchase plates can dine in or take them home.

Tickets can be purchased from any Kiwanis Club member or local Key Clubs and Builders Club members. All proceeds from the event benefit the children of Walker County.

The second annual Kiwanis Club of Jasper Pickleball Classic is set for April 26-27 at the City of Jasper Pickleball Courts (1020 Kiker Lane, Jasper).

Hagood says this year’s tournament will be structured like last year’s, with men’s, women’s, and mixed doubles play.

“We’re organizing four different age categories this time. Last year, we had three, but we’re adding one more. Participants ranged from about 15 to 73 years old last year, so we try to group players in a way that keeps competition fair,” he says.

The tournament entry fee is $30 for one event or $45 for two events. Signups begin soon via KiwanisJasper.com/Pickleball.

Sponsorship opportunities are available for both the Pancake Breakfast and the Pickleball Classic. If you or your business is interested in sponsoring the, please contact Jeremy Hagood at Jeremy@KiwanisJasper.com.

Kiwanis Club of Jasper meets for lunch every Monday at noon (holidays notwithstanding) in the Bevill State Jasper Cafeteria. Those interested in membership are welcome to attend. To learn more about the Kiwanis Club of Jasper, visit KiwanisJasper.com. WL
