Kenadie Richardson’s passion for softball started when she first played tee ball at just four or five years old. That childhood passion set the stage for a future defined by determination and grit.

Kenadie joined the Curry Junior High softball team in seventh grade, following in her sister Katie’s footsteps.

But her initial experience didn’t go as planned. Struggling to find her footing, she stepped away. However, her love for the game never wavered, and she returned as a freshman, ready to prove herself. That resilience has shaped her into the athlete she is today.

Like her sister, Kenadie has a special appreciation for playing catcher.

“I like the control aspect of it. I get to see everything. I get to know what to do and tell everybody what to do. And it’s nice to know that people rely on you,” she says.

Her talents don’t stop there. Kenadie is a versatile player who steps in at first and third base whenever her team needs her. That adaptability has made her an indispensable part of the lineup.

Kenadie’s admiration for Lady Jackets Softball Coach Dave Lawson runs deep, as she credits him with shaping her both as a player and a person.

“Dave is like my dad. I mean, he was there many times when my dad wasn’t. He coached me before I even came to Curry; he was my travel ball coach. So, he has shaped me into the player that I am. He’s the only reason I’m half as talented as I am,” she shares.

Now, Kenadie is taking her game to the next level. She has earned a softball scholarship to Coastal Alabama Community College in Bay Minette, Ala., where she’ll continue playing while pursuing a degree in physical therapy.

Kenadie’s love for the game and the guidance of her supportive coach have prepared her to succeed both on the field and in life.

With her talent, drive, and heart, she’s ready to conquer whatever comes her way. WL
