Walker County’s United Way Centennial Park is officially open!

In 2023, United Way of Central Alabama partnered with its volunteer program, Hands On, to create six centennial parks in honor of United Way’s 100th anniversary.

Scattered across the six counties United Way of Central Alabama serves, these centennial parks encompass the organization’s effort to foster a sense of community recreation and fun!

The new park features several amenities catering to all ages, giving every citizen something to participate in.

Ready to visit the park? Here are just a few ways to enjoy this new outdoor space!

  • Have a picnic at the new outdoor pavilion

This new pavilion is the perfect, shady spot for a picnic, whether you pack a basket full of delicious, homemade treats or grill out at the park. Meet with friends to eat and have Bible study, bring art supplies, or sit and chat! United Way’s vision for this park included creating a gathering place for the community, and this pavilion is the perfect place to do just that.

  • Get a workout on the soccer field or walking track

The park features a new walking track encircling the existing soccer field, which boasts several enhancements. The park offers the perfect opportunity for anyone wishing to stay active!

  • Bring your little ones to the play area

Let your kids take out all that exciting energy at the park’s new playground! Meet up for a playdate, or let the kids play while you watch and relax.

  • Take time to recharge

Aside from the beautiful new amenities, the nature surrounding the park is something worth appreciating. Take a relaxing walk in the gardens or enjoy a sunrise run, getting some fresh air, sunshine, and me-time!

No matter how you choose to use this new space, the United Way Centennial Park is already succeeding in its goal to bring the community together through outdoor recreation! WL

Centennial Park is located on 26th Street East in Jasper, just across from 1st Ave East.
