On Monday, August 26, 2024, Jerry Davis was sworn in as the new Walker County Revenue Commissioner during a ceremony held at Warehouse 319 in downtown Jasper.

Davis, originally from Etowah County, has served as the Chief Clerk of the Walker County Probate Office since 2019.

Davis’s background includes service in the Navy, where he specialized in aviation electronics. He later co-founded Thicket Publishing, which was eventually acquired by Grandview Media (EBSCO).

His transition into the role of Chief Clerk came after supporting his college friend, Judge A. Lee Tucker, during his campaign for the Probate Judge role, leading to his appointment during Tucker’s transition.

After years of commuting from Harpersville to Jasper, Davis relocated to the Boldo community in 2022.

In his address to attendees, Davis pledged, “I’ll work hard every day to keep the trust and friendship we’ve established, and I look forward to serving you all in this role.”

Davis succeeds Jerry Guthrie, who retired earlier this year after serving as Revenue Commissioner since 1996. WL
