Two Bevill State Community College (BSCC) students are among the 2024 All-Alabama Academic Team. Alexis Wilson, GPA: 3.875, Hometown: Fayette, AL (BSCC Fayette Campus), and Clay Jones, GPA: 3.9, Hometown: Warrior, AL (BSCC Sumiton Campus), were honored for this accomplishment during the Annual All-Alabama Community College Academic Team Recognition Ceremony on Friday, April 19, 2024, in Birmingham, AL.
Alexis Wilson, a sophomore majoring in biological science at Bevill State Community College, exemplifies academic excellence and leadership. With an impressive 3.875 GPA, Alexis juggles multiple roles and responsibilities. Currently serving as president of the Fayette Campus Ambassadors and Vice-President of Service of Phi Theta Kappa, Alexis also actively participates in the Student Government Association (SGA), Student Support Services, and the Garden Club. Her commitment to personal and professional growth is further evidenced by her upcoming graduation from the Fayette County Leadership program. Alexis works in the Walmart Vision Center. She plans to transfer to the University of Alabama in Birmingham (UAB), where she aims to major in biomedical sciences, with the ultimate goal of becoming an optometrist.
Bevill State is thrilled to announce that Alexis has been selected as a 2024 Coca-Cola Silver Scholar, a prestigious honor awarded to only 50 students nationwide. Her selection was based on her outstanding performance in the All-USA Academic Team competition, where she distinguished herself among more than 2,200 applicants this year. The Coca-Cola Silver Scholar program, sponsored by the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation and administered by Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, recognizes Alexis’s exceptional academic achievements and her potential to make a positive impact on society.

Clay Jones received his associate degree in Advanced Engineering Design Technology this past December. Transitioning seamlessly into the workforce, Clay now applies his acquired expertise as a draftsman at Utility Engineering Consultants, where he contributes actively to ongoing projects. Bolstered by the solid foundation provided by Bevill State, Clay is poised to embark on the next phase of his academic journey. Come fall, he plans to enroll at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), setting his sights on a degree in Civil Engineering. Clay’s trajectory underscores the transformative impact of community college education and exemplifies the promise of individuals like him in driving innovation and progress in their respective fields.
“Congratulations to Alexis Wilson and Clay Jones for their remarkable achievements and well-deserved recognition. Their accomplishments not only reflect their individual commitment to academic excellence but also exemplify the values and mission of our institution. We are honored to have played a part in their educational journey and eagerly anticipate the continued success they will undoubtedly achieve,” stated Dr. Joel Hagood, President of Bevill State Community College.
