Here’s a look at fun things to do this week in Walker County!

Thursday, April 18

  • Paint Night at Art & Soul

When: 6 PM
Where: Art & Soul Studio | 1604 Highway 78 East, Jasper, AL 35501

Join Ginny at Art & Soul Studio for a spring gnome-themed paint night! The cost to attend is $30 per person; register here.

Saturday, April 20

  • Herb Day Fundraiser

When: Beginning at 9 a.m.
Where: The Plantique | 2223 N Airport Road, Jasper, AL 35504

Join the Jasper Herb Society for their 13th annual Herb Day fundraiser! This event aims to educate people about the many benefits of growing and using herbs, while raising money for the Herb Society.

  • 2nd Annual Camp COOL Cornhole Tournament

When: Registration – 10 AM | Bags Fly – 11 AM
Where: Restoration Hall | 1825 6th Avenue South, Jasper, AL 35501

Camp COOL and Jasper Cornhole are partnering again to host the 2nd Annual Camp COOL Cornhole Tournament! Bring a partner, bags, and a chair, and enjoy raffle prizes, a 50/50 drawing, and lots of restaurants nearby in downtown Jasper. The prices to compete are as follows: Competitive – $40/team, Hit-or-Miss – $20/team, Blind Draw – $10/person.

  • Spring Into Sumiton

When: 9 AM – 2 PM
Where: Main Street, Sumiton

Come to Spring into Sumiton on Main Street and enjoy food trucks, live music, and a scavenger hunt!

  • Alabama Free Will Baptist Children’s Home Donut Dash 5K and Fun Run

When: 5K begins at 8 AM; runners should arrive at least 30 minutes beforehand.
Where: FWB Children’s Home Campus | 86 Academy Dr, Eldridge, AL 35554

This family-friendly event aims to raise funds for the Alabama FWB Children’s Home and welcomes participants of all ages. The 5K race includes six age divisions ranging from 20 and under to 60 and over. Medals will be awarded to the overall winner and the top three males and females in each age category. Plus, all participants can enjoy delicious donuts after the race!

Registration is open online or can be completed in person on the day of the event. Fees are $25 for the 5K and $15 for the Fun Run. All proceeds support the Alabama Free Will Baptist Children’s Home, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing a caring environment for children.

  • City of Lights Run with Perseverance 5K

When: 5K begins at 8 AM; runners should arrive at least 30 minutes beforehand.
Where: City of Lights Dream Center | 25 Austin Circle, Dora, AL 35062

The City of Lights Run with Perseverance 5K is a timed out and back 5K run on the Horse Creek Trail system in Dora. The race will start and end at the City of Lights Women’s Center in Dora. The entire race will be on paved surfaces. Strollers, walkers, and pets are allowed. This race will be professionally timed by River Region Timing.

The City of Lights is a multipurpose facility that includes a women’s and men’s rehabilitation program, an after-school program, a daycare, and HeadStart program. Sign up today and help City of Lights empower our community for a brighter future by eliminating the darkness of poverty and addiction!

  • Year of October, Live in Concert

When: 7 PM
Where: Tallulah Brewing Company | 1804 4th Avenue South, Jasper, AL 35501

Join Nashville rock band Year of October live at Tallulah Brewing Co. for a fun night of good music and delicious food and drinks!
