Words and Images Special to The Walker Leader
On Thursday, February 8, Tye Rodne, Public Affairs Specialist for energy infrastructure company Kinder Morgan, presented a significant contribution on behalf of the company to support the Walker County community. Rodne presented two donations to key organizations within the county.
The first donation, totaling $15,000, was presented to Walker County District 3 Commissioner Jim Borden. This substantial contribution is earmarked to benefit the volunteer fire departments operating within District 3. Volunteer fire departments play a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of communities. Kinder Morgan’s donation will provide vital support to these dedicated teams, enabling them to enhance their capabilities and better serve the residents of Walker County.

In addition to the donation to the fire departments, Kinder Morgan also presented a second contribution of $5,000 to Deidre Tatum, Executive Director of the Walker County Community Action Agency. This organization plays a pivotal role in addressing the community’s various social and economic challenges. The generous donation from Kinder Morgan will aid the Walker County Community Action Agency in its mission to provide essential services, support, and resources to individuals and families in need.
“Almost two years ago, Kinder Morgan contacted me concerning work that would be taking place on the extension of a main gas line off I-22 in the Cordova area. Through this process of working together, Kinder Morgan has graciously joined us today to give back to the community,” said Borden. It has been an honor to work with Kinder Morgan and to be part of giving back to those who serve our county with these donations. I look forward to continuing to work with Kinder Morgan and other industries to ensure growth in District 3 and throughout Walker County.” WL
