Carbon Hill High School hosted the 3A Area 10 Basketball Tournament this past Monday and Tuesday, February 5-6. On both nights, the gymnasium was packed with supporters as competing teams battled for the championship.
The first match-up on Monday saw Carbon Hill’s girls square off against Gordo. The Lady Bulldogs emerged victorious with a 55-50 final score.

The spotlight then shifted to the Carbon Hill boys versus Fayette County. Against all odds, Carbon Hill orchestrated a comeback, erasing an 18-point deficit to clinch a thrilling 74-70 win over the Tigers. As the final buzzer sounded, players, families, and students flooded the court in celebration, marking a hard-earned triumph in their ongoing battle.
On Tuesday, both Carbon Hill teams still felt the energy from the night before, but unfortunately, their opponents prevailed. The Lady Bulldogs succumbed to Winfield with a final score of 57-35, and the boys’ game, also versus Winfield, had a final score of 61-58.
Lead scorers for the Lady Bulldogs include Kalee Edwards, Sunnie Cerezo, and Addie Hadley, and on the boys’ side, Keegan Keeton and Jase Prince. Both teams are now set for a sub-region clash on Saturday, February 10, at Lauderdale County High School, determined to regroup and rise once more. WL
