Devils Defend Their Den Against Eagles: Cordova vs. Sumiton Christian

In a thrilling showdown, the Cordova Blue Devils triumphed over the Sumiton Christian Eagles on their senior night this past Tuesday, leaving the crowd electrified. The Blue Devils secured a hard-fought victory, outshining their opponents with a final score of 68-59.

Leading the charge for the Blue Devils were standout players Bryant Johnson, who showcased his skills with an impressive 21 points, Nick Phillips with 17 points, and Ethan Lane with 13 points. Their combined efforts proved instrumental in steering Cordova to a well-deserved triumph.

On the opposing side, the Sumiton Christian Eagles made a valiant effort, with Jonah Marshall leading the charge with an impressive 19 points. Rusty McDonald displayed his prowess with 17 points, while Noah Godwin contributed 12 points to the team’s overall performance.

The excitement didn’t stop there, as Cordova’s female counterparts dominated the court, overpowering Sumiton Christian with a commanding 58-29 victory. The Blue Devils’ formidable performance sets the stage for an eagerly anticipated Walker County Tournament Final showdown against the Dora Bulldogs on January 29 at Cordova.

Looking ahead, Cordova boys are gearing up for an intense regional game against the Haleyville Lions on January 26. Meanwhile, Sumiton Christian will face the Meek Tigers in a regional clash at home on the same date. WL
