The Walker Leader recently spoke with Brisa Ventura, a member of the sales team at Carl Cannon Chevrolet Buick GMC, and learned a bit about her journey into the automotive industry.
WL: What made you get into selling cars?
BV: There weren’t many women around here selling vehicles, and I wanted to represent women who are looking for vehicles, being someone they trust and may be less intimidated by.
WL: What does your day to day look like?
BV: It’s a bit chaotic! My mornings start with meetings where we go over appointments and inventory, then I make calls to people who are looking for vehicles. After that, I take vehicle photos for social media and work on deals throughout the day,
WL: What is the most rewarding part of your job?
BV: Definitely the smiles on customers’ faces after they come out of finance, and getting to take pictures of them before they excitedly drive off in their new cars.
WL: What are some obstacles and some advantages to being a woman in the car business?
BV: Advantages would be that women get to use their innate personality traits to their advantage, for example, being naturally good listeners. Obstacles would be that sometimes people think women don’t know as much about cars as men, but it’s fun to prove them wrong!
WL: What advice do you have for other young women interested in selling vehicles?
BV: Definitely go for it! It is really fun and rewarding. Working at a dealership teaches you so much about every aspect of life – you’re always learning and growing.
WL: What is your favorite vehicle that you’ve sold?
BV: A Thunderstorm Gray 2500HD GMC AT4. It is the best color and trim out there!
