Hundreds came out to a hot and dry Hudson-Kirby Stadium on Thursday, August 31, to watch an in-county game between the Cordova Blue Devils and the Oakman Wildcats.
Sophomore running back Tyler Thomas had two rushing touchdowns, and sophomore quarterback Caden Aaron had one rushing touchdown and a rushing two-point conversion to help lead the Oakman Wildcats to a 20-9 victory against the Cordova Blue Devils in Cordova’s Senior Night game.

Cordova’s quarterback and linebacker Mason Bates, a junior, had one rushing touchdown while kicker Brady Jones scored on a field goal.
On the defensive side for the Wildcats, junior linebacker Logan Tarvin collected an interception in the fourth quarter.

Cordova rushed for 131 yards and passed for 84 yards plus 5 yards due to penalties, and Oakman rushed for 163 yards and passed for 127 yards plus 25 yards due to penalties.
With the victory, Oakman moves to 1-1 and Cordova falls to 0-2.
Cordova hosts Haleyville in its first regional game at Hudson-Kirby Stadium on September 8, with kickoff set for 7 p.m., while Oakman continues on the road, headed to face the Midfield Patriots at Winfred E. Jackson Stadium, with kickoff set for 7 p.m. WL
