Curry High School Senior Harper Shadinger is the softball manager for head coach Dave Lawson. Harper sustained a career-ending ankle injury last year but keeps a good attitude despite the circumstances and also serves her teammates.

She has a 3.5 GPA, and her favorite subject is Home Economics. She is also involved in Beta Club, Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), Student Government Association (SGA), and Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA). In addition, she serves as Class Secretary.

“I overcame the adversity of my career-ending injury through my family and friends,” Harper said. “When we started playing softball last season, it bothered me, but everyone made me feel included, so it got better.”

After graduating in May 2023, she plans to attend cosmetology school and open her own business.

Harper is the daughter of Mason and Leann Shadinger.
