On April 25th, the Samford University Alumni Club of Jasper gathered Musgrove Country Club for their annual “Dogs for Dogs” event. Dogs for Dogs offers an opportunity for alumni of the Homewood-based University that reside in Jasper and surrounding areas to share memories and foster new connections.
Dogs for Dogs is a yearly collaboration of the Samford Alumni Association and two notable Jasper couples, Robbin and Anthony Allen and Beth and Rick Stukes.
“At Samford University, students are not just prepared to enter the workforce, but also to live a life of purpose and meaning. The university’s emphasis on faith, service, and intellectual curiosity creates graduates who are uniquely equipped to carry the light of Christ into the world,” Beth says. “We enjoy coming together with alumni to celebrate those wonderful things about Samford.”
Attendees enjoyed a delicious meal prepared by the crew at Musgrove and enjoyed the beautiful weather while connecting with old friends and making new ones.
The gathering also included informative updates from Samford representatives, Martin Newton, Director of Athletics, and Betsy Holloway, Vice President of Advancement and Marketing. Newton shared exciting updates on Samford’s athletics program and encouraged alumni to continue to support their alma mater’s endeavors. Holloway provided updates on enrollment, growth, strategic planning, and the upcoming construction of the university’s new Wellness and Athletic Complex and remarked that it is an exciting time to be associated with Samford in any capacity.
