Brothers Bo and Blake Meacham grew up in the small community of Boldo among a close-knit group of family and friends. Upon graduating high school, the brothers took different approaches to their careers. Blake went straight to work in the construction industry, learning the basics of all its facets, while Bo pursued a business degree at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB).
For years, the two dreamed of owning a business together. After Bo found himself in the same line of work as his brother, the two decided to combine their unique skills and create a company based on quality work, personable service, and reasonable prices.
Thus, in 2020, Meacham Concrete, LLC, was born. Meacham Concrete is a full-service concrete business providing services from pouring backyard patios to driveways to house foundations. Bo puts his business degree to work, handling tasks such as consultations and crunching numbers, while Blake oversees day-to-day operations on job sites.
“We tackle all aspects of the business together, but we prioritize. I prioritize what I like to do, and Blake prioritizes what he likes to do. It’s a good combination that works well for our business,” Bo says.
After many years of gaining experience with other companies, the brothers are proud to have brought their visions of business ownership to life. Bo has a few words of encouragement for those considering business ownership: “Go for it.”
“If you want to do it, and you have the time to put into it, do it. Because if you don’t take that chance, you’ll keep wondering and never experience it. You are going to have to baby it. There will be good days and bad days. But you learn as you go. And if you’re doing something you love, it’s worth it,” says Bo.
Interacting with customers is a treat, and Bo and Blake enjoy taking clients’ ideas, adding their own spin, and surprising clients with the finished product. Though each day is enjoyable, the brothers are genuinely motivated by providing for their families.
“Having a family is a big task, but it motivates us to get through the day,” says Bo. “But we are strong believers in our Savior, Jesus, and we base everything we do off that, off Him. We do our best to incorporate our faith into not only every aspect of our business but every aspect of our lives.”
Motivated by family, faith, and a job well done, brothers Bo and Blake Meacham continue to build a business, provide for their families, and serve the community in a way they can be proud of. 78
