ADAI’s Farm to School Program Hosts Alabama Plate Day

The Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries’ (ADAI) Farm to School Program, in partnership with Sweet Grown Alabama, is hosting a “Sweet Grown Alabama Plate Day.” On this special day, nearly all the products served at lunch in Montgomery County Schools will be sourced directly from Alabama farmers.

Students will have the option to choose between a salad featuring Alabama lettuce, grape tomatoes and cucumbers or a burger made from Alabama beef served with sweet potato fries. Both options will include satsumas.

  • – Beef from Mason Hills Farms
  • – Grape and slicer tomatoes from Boatwright Farms
  • – Lettuce and cucumbers from Extreme Greens
  • – Satsumas from GCC&P Cooperative
  • – Sweet potatoes from Sirmon Farms processed into fries by Glyen Holmes

The event will begin at 10:45 a.m. at Booker T. Washington Magnet High School 4400 Bell Rd., Montgomery, AL 36116.
