Mi Michoacana, Jasper’s beloved destination for traditional Mexican treats, has opened its doors at a new, larger location at 1301 Highway 78 East in the College Hills Plaza shopping center.

Known for its homemade ice cream, popsicles, milkshakes, and various savory street foods, Mi Michoacana has quickly become a local favorite since its opening in 2022.

Adrian De Rueda, who owns the business alongside his wife Susy, is thrilled with the new location.

“Where we were previously, it was great for getting our start with the business. But we want to be a place where people can come in, sit down, chill out, and bring their family and friends. It wasn’t a space that really allowed that, so we knew we needed a bigger place, and thankfully, we found this great spot,” he says.

The new location offers several key improvements, including a bigger parking lot to accommodate more customers and increased seating to ensure everyone has a comfortable spot to enjoy their treats. Additionally, the expanded space features arcade games, making it a fun destination for families and friends to gather and relax.

Since its inception, Mi Michoacana has aimed to bring authentic flavors from Adrian’s hometown of Guadalajara, Mexico, and Susy’s hometown of Michoacán, Mexico, to Walker County.

In a previous conversation with The Walker Leader, Adrian noted, “The main goal was to expose the community to something from our hometowns, like our homemade ice cream, and through that, we’ve gained an American community around us that loves it too.”

Mi Michoacana continues to serve its popular range of treats, from homemade ice cream and street corn to weekend specialties like birria ramen.

Their success has also led to the addition of an ice cream truck, available for parties and events, ensuring that their delicious offerings can be enjoyed all around the community.

The new location’s hours are Monday, Wednesday-Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. The store is closed on Tuesdays.

Whether you’re stopping by for a quick treat or planning to stay and enjoy the new space with friends, Mi Michoacana’s new location offers a welcoming environment and the same great flavors that have made it a staple in Jasper. WL
