The Cigar Box celebrated its fifth anniversary with the “Briars, Bluegrass, and Barbecue” event on April 1 in Downtown Jasper. The event was free and open to the public, and brought together tobacco enthusiasts, bluegrass music lovers, and barbecue fans for an evening filled with great food, music, and camaraderie.
One of the highlights of the event was the attendance of Pete Prevost of Briarworks Pipes in Columbia, Tennessee. Pipe enthusiasts had the opportunity to meet with Prevost and admire the level of craftsmanship he puts into creating pipes.
The event also featured a performance by Cullman-based bluegrass band, Another Town. The band’s music added to the festive atmosphere, giving attendees the chance to sit back, relax, and enjoy some excellent live music.
Attendees enjoyed a delicious sampling of barbecue dishes, with Greg and Lindsey Kilgore of Jasper’s Black Rock Bistro serving as pit masters, along with refreshing iced tea from Milo’s, and delightful desserts from Nothing Bundt Cakes.
“This was our biggest event yet, we estimate that several hundred people came through. Next year we hope to make it even bigger and better,” said manager BJ Lemmons. “Our five years in Downtown Jasper have been great, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds.” WL
