At just 10 years old, Trace Emerson discovered his passion for basketball after joining a local church league. Now playing guard for the Curry High School Yellow Jackets, he thrives on the court.
“I like running the power forward, being in that position where you get out and shoot, or you could be down low,” Trace shares, reflecting on his favorite aspects of the game.
Trace credits head coach Quinton McCarty for revitalizing the Curry basketball program.
As his high school graduation approaches, Trace is preparing for life beyond the hardwood. He plans to pursue a career in general contracting.
“Originally, I was going to go into plumbing and have a career in that field, but my uncle, who owns a general contracting business, offered me a job, and I decided to go that route,” he explains.
From his first game on a church court to his final season at Curry, Trace has shown a strong commitment to whatever challenge he takes on.
Whether he’s on the court or stepping into his future career, Trace will continue to be set apart by his adaptability and determination. WL
