The Jasper Area Family Services Center (JAFSC) is proud to partner with the Alabama State Department of Education’s Child Nutrition Programs to support the health and wellness of children in the Jasper area.
Through the Child Nutrition Programs, JAFSC provides nutritious meals for its Early Head Start and Pre-K students, ensuring they receive the essential nutrients needed for learning and growth.
The food program at JAFSC follows stringent federal and state guidelines set by Alabama’s Child Nutrition Staff, who manage the USDA’s Child Nutrition Programs statewide. These staff members play a vital role by interpreting policies, offering technical support, conducting program audits, and ensuring that high-quality, cost-efficient food is provided to Alabama’s schools and preschool centers. They also facilitate the distribution of USDA-donated foods and oversee the procurement of food products to ensure they comply with established regulations.
JAFSC’s dedication to quality and care in its nutrition and education programs is crucial in supporting the well-being and future success of the community’s young children.
Donna Kilgore, Executive Director of JAFSC, emphasizes the center’s mission to support families and their children’s futures. “The center provides a community-based facility for families to access services that empower them to develop skills and resources they need to prepare their children for success in a competitive society,” Kilgore shared. “We are happy to provide this opportunity for families served in Early Head Start and Pre-K.”
