Bevill State Community College Welcomes Andrew McCay as new Vice President of Administration and Operations

Bevill State Community College is proud to announce the appointment of Andrew McCay as the new Vice President of Administration and Operations. McCay, an alumnus of Bevill State, brings a robust background in finance, operations, and legal expertise to his new role.

McCay’s impressive educational background includes a Juris Doctor from the Birmingham School of Law, a Bachelor of Science in Commerce and Business Administration from the University of Alabama, and an Associate of Science Degree from Walker College. He is a Certified Chief School Financial Officer with the Alabama State Department of Education and has been licensed to practice law in Alabama since 2008.

With over two decades of experience, McCay has a proven track record in financial management and operational leadership. Most recently, he served as Chief School Financial Officer for the Walker County Board of Education, managing its operating budget and overseeing financial operations, compliance, and capital improvement projects. Prior to this, he spent ten years in a similar role with the Winston County Board of Education, where he successfully managed its budget and leveraged federal and state funding to enhance school resources.

In addition to his extensive experience in education finance, McCay has ten years of banking experience with AmSouth Bank and Traders and Farmers Bank. He has also held leadership roles in various community organizations, including Capstone Health, the ARC of Walker County, and the Walker County Christian Chorus.

McCay is recognized for his organized, analytical, and detail-oriented approach to school administration. His collaborative nature and strong leadership skills have consistently ensured that operations align with the goals and vision of the organizations he has served.

“I am thrilled to join Bevill State Community College as Vice President of Administration and Operations,” said McCay. “This opportunity allows me to contribute to an institution that holds a special place in my heart, having been a student here myself. I am eager to support Bevill’s vision of setting the standard of excellence for education, workforce training, partnerships, and economic development. Together with the outstanding team at Bevill State Community College, I look forward to fostering growth, innovation, and lasting impact across our campuses and the communities we serve.”

Dr. Joel Hagood, President of Bevill State Community College, expressed his enthusiasm about McCay’s appointment. “We are delighted to welcome Andrew McCay to our leadership team. His extensive experience in finance and administration, coupled with his dedication to community service, makes him an excellent fit for this role. I am confident that Andrew will play a key role in advancing our mission and enhancing the success of our students and our institution.”

McCay is married to Kristen Lawson McCay, and they have two children: Evan, a rising sophomore at Meek High School and dually enrolled at Bevill State Community College, and Harper, a rising 6th grader at Meek Elementary School.
